With the Text Analysis option in Reporting, you have the option to view and tag all text based responses or submissions in one place. It also allows you to filter these responses on the demographic data of the participants.
Now, we have a feature that makes the text analysis tool even better. This feature is called Sentiment Analysis and it allows you to gauge the overall sentiment of the text data across the site. Using this feature, you can filter all the positive, negative, and neutral texts across the various tools on offer. Click here to view a detailed article on this analysis with videos.
This feature works on all tools except the Quick poll and Questions. Below are the steps to know how it works:
Go to Reporting > Text Analysis.
Once on the page, select the project and the respective tool. Admins also have the option to apply a date filter. Once you select the required date click update.
The Sentiment Analysis option will appear next to the Demographic filter as shown below.
Once you click on the button, the feature will analyze the data that is been selected and show the sentiment summary at the top.
When you hover over the sentiment, you get the option to click on it and filter it based on the sentiment.
The feature also allows you to change the sentiment of a comment from the existing one to another as shown below.
You can also look at the confidence score for the comment or the text data for each submission.
Once any change is made to the sentiment, you need to refresh the page for the changes to appear.
You can then click on a particular sentiment to view only those comments or text data that have the same sentiment. With this, you can also tag those comments or text data with a unique tag as required.
Apart from the regular search option which allows you to search for comments, author details etc, there is also an Advanced search option.
On clicking the option shown above, the following drop down is visible.
Through the Advanced Search one can search for word combinations with the
AND /OR search, Words to be excluded in search, Search for whole or partial word match or starting with a specific word and the option to search for case sensitive words. This feature adds a lot of flexibility to the tool.
You can also download a report with the same sentiment analysis filters applied. The report will include the sentiment for each of the comments along with the other data like the demographic information if selected.
With the addition of sentiment analysis, the Text Analysis function with the demographic filter gives us a deeper understanding of the participants and their responses.
The Sentiment Analysis feature can be enabled for your site by going to Marketplace section and clicking on the Sentiment Analysis tool.
We currently support only English and French languages for Sentiment Analysis.
Once there, click on the button Enable Sentiment Analysis.
