Important days and dates of events or activities can be added and customised for your EHQ project through the Key Dates widget feature.
The following steps describe how to set up this widget on your EHQ page:
Click on the Projects link on the side menu bar and select your specific project from the list displayed. You can use the Search box to locate the required project.
Click on the title of your project. In this case, the project in which the widget is to be added is “Sample project for EHQ”. You can view the selected project’s page.
Click on the Add Widgets button to add the Key Dates widget to your project. A list of widgets is displayed on a draw from the right of the screen. Click on Key Dates.
This displays the Key Dates page. Here, you can add new key dates and copy existing ones from other projects.
Add Key Dates
In the Key Dates page, click on the Add Key Date button to upload important dates to your project’s Key Dates widget. On clicking this button, you can see that there are two options available. These are Add Key Date and Copy Existing Key Date.
Add Key Date
On clicking the Add Key Date option, the following Add Key Date page is displayed. Here, you can enter key dates for a single day event or multi-day event.
The following fields are available in the Add Key Date page.
- Single Day Event – select this option to add a key date for a single-day event and click in the field provided. Select a date for your event from the calendar.
- Multi-Day Event – In case your event is for more than 1 day, click on this option and select an event start and end day from the calendar. The selected range is displayed in the field.
- Show only month and year checkbox – Select this checkbox to display only month and year of the key date.
- Title – Enter the title of the event in this box.
- Description – Enter description for your event. You can add hyperlinks here, so users can click on the link to register for the event for more details. To add hyperlinks, click on the Insert Link option.
After entering the necessary details in the Add Key Date page, click on the Save & Close button. The newly added key date is displayed in the Key Dates page.
Copy Existing Key Date
On clicking this option, the following Copy Existing Key Date screen is displayed.
In the Select Project field, click on the drop-down menu and select the required project with the necessary key date(s). Click on the checkbox to select the required key date. To select all key dates, click on the Select All checkbox. Finally, click on the Add to Widget button.
The selected dates are displayed in the Key Dates page.
To edit a key date, click on it's title. The Edit Key Date page is displayed. Make the necessary changes in the fields. You can delete a key date by clicking on the Delete button. Note: Delete action cannot be undone. The information will be deleted permanently.
You can change the settings of your project’s Key Dates widget by clicking on the Settings button.
On clicking the Settings button, you can view the following Settings page.
You can choose to change the name of the widget to make it more meaningful in your project context. To do this, enter the new name or title in the Title box.
Select the Hide title checkbox if you do not want the title to appear in the published project. After making the necessary changes in the Settings page, click on the Save & Close button. The preview of the widget with the Hide title checkbox selected is given below.
Display Key dates on Front-end
Also, the Key Dates widget page contains a drop-down menu with the following two options: Show Top and Show Recent, as displayed below.
Select the Show Top option to view the recently added key dates at the end of the key dates list. Select the Show Recent option to view the recently added key dates at the start of the list. In the box next to the drop-down menu, enter the number of key dates to be visible in the preview of the published project. You can also click on the arrows to increase or decrease the number of key dates to be displayed in the preview. A pushpin icon next to the key dates indicates that these will be displayed in the preview of the published project.
For example, in the figure below, Show Top option is selected and the count entered is 1. The pushpin icons are for the key date entered first. The preview image is provided below for a better understanding of how the Show Top option and count works. Click on more.. to view all the key dates in the widget.
Similarly, in the next image, Show Recent is selected and the count entered is 2.
After you have added the key dates to your project, the count is displayed in your project page.
You can preview the project by clicking on the Preview button located in the top end of your project page. Clicking on the button displays participant’s view of all the tools and widgets published in the project.

If you do not want the Key Dates widget to be displayed in the published project, select the Hide option. To permanently delete the Key Dates widget from your project, select the Delete option.
