You can use Google Analytics alongside EngagementHQ reporting. They do not compete; whether you use one or both depends on what you want to discover.

For example, we designed EngagementHQ reporting with online engagement in mind; the data is presented to help you understand your engagement efforts and impacts. The data on Google Analytics may give you different insights, and as different analytics platforms use different algorithms, you cannot blindly compare the numbers.

We recommend getting an overview of EngagementHQ analytics and then thinking about how you will use your data.

Here are some tips to get you started:

  • Before you start exploring the data, take some time to research data analysis and web analytics, and what Google Analytics and EngagementHQ reporting can deliver in terms of raw data. You’ll find many articles about web analysis, and our reporting section will help you learn about EngagementHQ reporting.

  • Understand what you want to discover and note metrics, goals, and KPIs before interrogating the data.

  • Use both Google Analytics and EngagementHQ to capture different data over time, but do not blindly compare the numbers. Think about what the data tells you and use that understanding to tell the story.

  • Don’t forget about the qualitative data you receive. The submission content may provide real insights rather than numbers for tools such as Forums, Questions, and Ideas.

  • Understand the limitations of both platforms. For example, Google Analytics can’t track EngagementHQ document downloads; this information is only available in EngagementHQ.
