About Participant Signup and Login

Understand the participant experience when registering for and logging into your EngagementHQ site.

Registered participants complete the Signup Form and become part of the Participants database. They can participate in tools that require registration and can be included in participant groups. You can view your participants and their details in the Participants section of your admin.

The Signup Process

Participants can register using the registration link in your header or in the tool tab if the tool has registered participation. Both options will direct them to the Signup Form; if they register from a tool, the form will appear as a pop-up and will redirect them to the tool once registration is complete.

As the user completes the Signup Form, the fields will indicate if their answers are correct or invalid. For example, if a username is in use or a password doesn’t meet the password rules, the form will inform the user in real-time.

When a participant submits the form, they will receive an Activation email that includes a Verification code to enter and Confirm account. Alternatively, they can follow the verification link included, which is valid for 24 hours.

If the participant registers from a tool, they will be logged in immediately to continue their participation.

Resend the Activation Email

If they request another activation email, or you want to prompt them as a reminder, you can resend the activation email from your Participants database. Search for the user in Participants and select the envelope icon in the Actions column to Send activation email. If you can’t see this icon, then the participant account is already active.

If the participant is not receiving these emails, there are two options:

  1. Ask them to check their junk folders

  2. Ask them to reset their password; a successful password reset also activates their account.

How to Log In

Once registered, participants can use the Sign in links in the header or on tools to log in. The Sign in page contains fields for their Email or Login and their Password. If you have enabled sign-in via Facebook, Twitter, or Google, they can also use these platforms to register and log in.

Participants can also use the Register link on this page if they have not yet registered or select Forgot password? to reset their password and Didn’t receive confirmation? to receive a new activation email.

Participants vs Subscribers

While participants have completed the registration process, subscribers only submit their email address in the Follow Project widget. They become part of your mailing list and can receive newsletters for project updates but cannot view or participate in areas of your site that are protected by registration. Additionally, they are not part of your Participants database.

Once they confirm the subscription, you can no longer invite them as a participant. However, they can update themselves to a participant if they register directly on the site or use the register link in their subscription confirmation email.

Registered participants and admins can also follow projects to ensure they receive any newsletter updates about that project.
