EngagementHQ is designed to empower you and your community to develop and share options, gather feedback, and incorporate additional comments to create the best outcome. You can use our range of engagement tools to move through consultation stages and develop a more robust understanding of community sentiment and goals at each phase of the project.

For example, you can:

Use Ideas to Share Options

In stage one of your consultation, you can use the Ideas tool to present the options you have developed to your community.

  1. Add Ideas to your project, giving the tool a name and description that will help your community understand the purpose of the Ideas board. For example, instruct them to select different posts to see the advantages and disadvantages of each option and provide a link to the survey for detailed feedback.

  2. While the tool is in draft, Preview it and select New Post to add your ideas. Use the Add more details field to outline the pros and cons of each option.

  3. When you have posted each option, Archive the tool, including an Archival message that serves as a call to action.

Alternatively, you can use Scheduled voting for the same date that you publish the tool to create a quick form of engagement. If your participants are hesitant to complete the survey, the votes your options receive may give you additional insight into the preferred option.

Gather Feedback Via a Survey

Your survey should be designed to help your community provide feedback on the ideas you posted.

  1. Create a survey on your project and use the Details tab to provide instructions and encourage participants to review the options before completing it.

  2. Build your survey using Choice or Scale questions so your participants can either select one preferred option or rank them from most to least preferred.

  3. Include any additional questions for greater insight. For example, you can use an Essay question to ask them why they've chosen their preferred option or add demographic questions if you don't use registration. You can also enable Allow other option so respondents can choose an answer that isn't covered by the provided options.

  4. In the Settings tab, configure a Thank You Message and include a link to a Places tool so they can provide any additional comments. You can create Thank You Messages for all tools in your engagement to increase visibility and participation.

Encourage Additional Comments Using Places

Your Places tool can be as open as you want it to be. You can use it to encourage comments about the ideas you already posted or to gain suggestions for future work in the area.

When you add Places to your project, use the Details tab to provide:

  • Instructions for placing pins on the interactive map.

  • Encouragement to add comments and suggestions and, if appropriate, some guidance on what feedback you're looking for.

  • Links to the Ideas board and survey to review the options and provide structured feedback.

This is just one example of using multiple tools to move your participants through multiple stages of your project. Browse our other tools to learn what else you can do in EngagementHQ.
