Tools can have Participation Settings that differ from the project Visibility settings. For example, while anyone can view Public projects, you can set a survey to only allow registered users to participate.

The Participation Settings differ between tools, but they will have a mix of these options:

  • Registered participants: only registered users can participate in the tool. If the user hasn’t registered or logged in, the site will prompt them to do so. The participant’s profile details will be recorded against their contribution in reports. Registered participation is available for all tools, and the Survey tool has two additional options:

    • Registered Single: registered participants can contribute once; a message displays if users attempt to participate again.

    • Registered Multiple: registered participants can contribute as many times as they want.

  • Anyone/Anonymous: anyone can participate without registering or providing an email and screen name; no user details are recorded. This setting is only available for Surveys and Quick Polls.

  • Unverified participation: participants don’t have to register but can provide a screen name and email, which will be recorded with their contribution in reports. Unverified participation is available for all tools. Some tools will require users to provide an email and screen name and agree to the terms of use and privacy policy of EngagementHQ.

To change a tool’s participation settings:

  1. Go to the project page and Add or Edit the tool you need.

  2. Go to the Settings tab, select your Participation Setting, or enable the Allow unverified participation setting.

  3. Save your settings.
