You might have discovered that when you are trying to download docx files from participants through the survey tool, you see the below error.

This error occurs because your browser will try to download the file as an XML file, rather than a word doc. There is a simple workaround that will help you get the right file.

Assume the file you want to download is located here:
https://s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/ehq-production-australia/db1819e6ccadc/file_answers/files/027/470/309/original/Submission.docx?1542187935

This will give you an error, but removing the string at the end, that is ?1542187935, will make this link work. Hence with the above link, the download should work (not in this case of course, this is only an example).

https://s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/ehq-production-australia/db1819e6ccadc/file_answers/files/027/470/309/original/Submission.docx

Also, note that file names with special characters like hyphens or space should be avoided as they lead to errors either while uploading or downloading such a file.

Try it out and see if that works for you. If not, shoot us a message in the chat.
