Once your survey is set up, but before you Publish it, we recommend previewing and testing it.
You must always test your survey before publishing it. Do not test a published survey, as your response will be recorded, and your data will be skewed. Check out this article on the impacts of changing a published survey for more information.
Via the Preview button on your survey tool, admins can go through the entire survey to ensure that it works from the participant's perspective.
Another option is to Preview the project page to see how the participant will interact with it, and use the Take Survey button to complete a test submission.
When testing a survey, check the following:
All questions are logical and relevant
Any conditional or skip logic is applied correctly
There are demographic questions in anonymous or unverified surveys
All unnecessary questions are inactive
All spelling, links, images, or videos are correct
We also recommend testing your survey on multiple devices.
Currently, there is no option to share a draft survey with someone without an EngagementHQ admin account. If you need to, there are three alternatives:
If the survey is only one page, you can publish the survey and share the draft project link. Anyone with the link can see the survey but not submit or continue to another page.
If there are multiple pages, you will need to publish both the survey and the project. Any submissions will be recorded. You can copy the survey to a different project, publish them both, and share the Standalone survey link; in this scenario, you won’t add this project to your homepage.
Send an offline version of the survey by generating a PDF and emailing it to the external reviewer. This will give the reviewer an understanding of the structure and questions of the survey, but not how it will look online.
